Almost everything else we drive goes north up the coast. Torrevieja is the exception: it sits south of the airport, which makes it one of our shortest runs in kilometres and not quite as short in minutes, because the last part is not all motorway.

Going south you leave the motorway sooner, and the last part runs through roundabouts and urbanisation entrances rather than open road. It is shorter than Benidorm in kilometres and almost the same in minutes, which surprises people who booked on distance alone.
This is the route with the most residents rather than holidaymakers: owners coming back for a few weeks, often landing late, often with an address that is a villa number in a development with no shop in sight.
