Villajoyosa, or La Vila Joiosa, is the one you pass before Benidorm, and the one a lot of people wish they had picked instead. The seafront is a row of houses painted in different colours, originally so fishermen could find their own from the water.
It is 49 km from the airport, about 38 minutes, and €70 fixed for the vehicle. That makes it the cheapest route we run on this stretch of coast, and the quickest.
It is also the chocolate town: Valor has been making it here since 1881 and the factory and museum are in the middle of town. Which is as good a reason as any to be staying twenty minutes short of Benidorm.

Straight up the motorway and off again before Benidorm. At thirty eight minutes it is the fastest we get anyone to the sea from the airport, and in practice you are often unpacking before a bus passenger has finished their first connection.
Villajoyosa gets the traveller who wants the coast without the scale of Benidorm, and increasingly the ones visiting the chocolate factory, which turns out to be a stronger draw than anyone expects.
